Public & Civic Buildings
New construction of schools, municipal facilities and other publicly owned buildings.
A woman-owned general building contractor delivering schools, civic buildings and public facilities across Southern California — from pre-construction estimating through final closeout.
MPX Construction LLC holds a California Class B General Building license and is registered with the Department of Industrial Relations to bid and perform public works. We self-perform general contracting, scheduling and project management.
Rather than carrying idle trade crews, we assemble a competitively bid team of licensed, insured subcontractors for every scope on every job. That keeps our overhead lean and our numbers sharp — while giving the awarding agency the single point of accountability it expects from a general contractor.
Most contractors learn how agencies award work from the outside. MPX's owner spent nine years on the inside of one.
MPX Construction is a woman-owned firm. Ana Marilia Ramos holds a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering and worked more than a decade in public infrastructure before founding the company — including two years as Head of the Department of Public Works for a provincial government authority, on the awarding side of public contracts.
That career covered the full lifecycle this company now bids into: writing and running public tender programs, evaluating contractor submissions, inspecting work in progress, and closing out contracts for hospitals, schools, courts and highways.
Directed the provincial public works department, managing departmental staff and resolving outstanding government construction, architecture and inspection contracts.
Coordinated construction and rehabilitation of hospitals, schools, courts and highways, and led public tender programs for public works contracts across the province.
Taught building materials to more than 160 engineering students, pairing coursework with field visits to active construction sites.
Worked within an engineering team fabricating metallic structures — jackets, manifolds and top decks — for offshore oil production.
New construction of schools, municipal facilities and other publicly owned buildings.
Code, ADA and seismic upgrades to existing public facilities, including work in occupied buildings.
Interior build-outs and reconfigurations for public agencies and civic tenants.
Scope takeoffs, trade package breakdowns and value engineering ahead of bid submittal.
Structured RFQ process, license and insurance verification, and coordination across every trade.
Schedule control, safety oversight, quality inspection, punch list and closeout documentation.
Public owners check before they award. Everything below is a matter of public record and can be confirmed directly with the Contractors State License Board and the Department of Industrial Relations.
The discipline is the product. A repeatable procurement process is what lets a lean contractor price aggressively without carrying risk into the schedule.
We read the full solicitation, drawings and specifications, and build a quantity takeoff before pricing anything.
The job is divided into discrete trade scopes so nothing falls between two subcontractors at buyout.
Every trade goes out to at least five qualified subcontractors, prioritizing those nearest the site to hold down mobilization and haul costs.
Each quoting subcontractor is checked against CSLB licensing and current insurance before their number enters the bid.
Scopes are levelled, gaps closed, and the proposal submitted complete with all required forms and bonds.
Schedule, safety and quality managed in the field through punch list, final inspection and closeout documentation.
Classroom buildings, modular relocations, and campus facility modernizations for districts and community colleges.
City, county and special-district buildings, civic facilities and public administration space.
Occupied-building upgrades — code compliance, ADA, seismic retrofit and building systems.
Interior build-outs for agencies and civic tenants, phased around continuing operations.

Join the bid listMPX Construction is owner-operated out of San Diego. The person who reviews the solicitation is the person who assembles the bid and answers the phone during construction — there is no layer between the agency and the decision-maker.
That structure suits the work we pursue: projects where responsiveness and a clean paper trail matter more than the size of the letterhead.
